What is almond oil?

Almond, native to Iran and surroundings, is a deciduous tree that blossoms in spring. Its botanical name is Prunus amygdalus, being in the same genus as peach and apricot. Just like the almonds we eat, the sweet variant is used for almond oil. Extraction is done using a cold-pressing technique without heat, to keep the beneficial compounds intact. 

Its primary constituents are fatty acids, mainly monounsaturated oleic acid and polyunsaturated linoleic acid, and is rich in other beneficial compounds in smaller concentrations - most notably antioxidant vitamin E.
